Job Overview

Devonshire Recruiting & Consulting Partners is actively seeking a Technical Group Director on behalf of our client, a nationally recognized leader in acoustics, technology systems, and security consulting. This position will lead the Technology Group, overseeing the delivery of advanced low-voltage design and engineering solutions, including AV, ICT, and Security services. Based out of Cambridge, MA, the Director will report directly to the President and be a key member of the executive leadership team.

This high-visibility role is ideal for an accomplished leader with strong technical management experience, excellent interpersonal communication, and a passion for guiding a seasoned consulting team. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, exceptional client engagement skills, and a collaborative leadership style.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate a forward-looking strategic plan for the Technology Group, aligned with the company’s overall goals.
  • Define and promote the group’s market positioning and technical value proposition.
  • Guide group structure, resource planning, and workflows to support project delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Direct business development strategy and lead client acquisition, proposal efforts, and industry engagement activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, HR, and other technical teams to support company-wide objectives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, integrity, teamwork, and professional excellence across the group.
  • Lead budgeting efforts, set utilization targets, and monitor group performance metrics.
  • Represent the Technology Group at quarterly board meetings and contribute to corporate strategy discussions.
  • Manage the group’s project pipeline, overseeing resource allocation and supporting project execution where needed.
  • Mentor, evaluate, and develop staff across the department, including conducting performance reviews and planning compensation.
  • Oversee coordination with HR on recruitment, onboarding, retention, and employee relations.
  • Collaborate with accounting on financial oversight, project billing, and contracts.
  • Actively participate in marketing and BD efforts, including RFP responses, conference presentations, and industry events.
  • Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB) initiatives in hiring and team culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, systems design, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in consulting, technology systems design, or low-voltage disciplines such as AV, telecom, or security.
  • Demonstrated success in group-level strategy, business development, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to guide technical teams and engage with executive stakeholders.
  • Proven track record managing project teams, budgets, and departmental KPIs.
  • Experience with industry associations, conferences, or presenting technical topics publicly is a plus.
